1.0mm retainers are thin and discreet, ideal for everyday or nighttime wear. 1.5mm retainers are thicker and more durable, better suited to people who do some grinding (bruxism) or who want a longer-lasting option. If you grind heavily, a dedicated night guard may protect your teeth better than a retainer — your dentist can advise on what is right for you. The 1.5mm upgrade costs a small amount extra per set.
